ARAG completes the acquisition of DAS UK’s Operations in the Republic of Ireland

After obtaining approval from the relevant supervisory authorities, the German family-owned ARAG Group has acquired the Irish business operations of DAS Legal Expenses Insurance Company Limited. The Dublin based company is the market-leading provider of legal insurance in the Republic of Ireland with a market share of roughly 60 percent and gross premium income of around 6 million euros in 2018. The product portfolio comprises legal insurance products for private individuals and commercial enterprises in the Republic of Ireland.

Gaining a foothold in a new market has favorable implications on the international expansion course of the ARAG Group which is now active in 19 countries, including the USA, Canada and Australia.

“We will expand our market leading position, continue to offer quality service to our customers while strengthening our excellent relationships with our business partners. Our team of highly skilled professional staff and award winning Management remains unchanged”, said Adrienne O’Sullivan, CEO of ARAG Ireland. “In the short-term our objective is to move our policyholders at their respective renewal dates to ARAG policies where they will enjoy no less policy covers than they currently experience. In the mid-term we will be introducing new covers and expanding our services”, adds Adrienne O’Sullivan.

Both parties agreed to not disclose the purchase price.
