Change of Leadership in the Sales Department of the ARAG Group

Dr. Johannes Kathan to retire. Dr. Matthias Maslaton to assume his duties

Dr. Johannes Kathan (61), Member of the Board of Management, Sales of the ARAG Group, has asked the Supervisory Board of ARAG SE to terminate his appointment to the Board of Management for personal reasons effective 30 April 2017. The Supervisory Board has acceded to his wish in the spirit of amicable mutual agreement. Dr. Johannes Kathan's duties will be assumed by Dr. Matthias Maslaton (47), his colleague on the Board of Management.

Dr. Johannes Kathan joined the Board of the ARAG Insurance Group of Düsseldorf in 2001. In that capacity, Dr. Kathan, an Austrian citizen who holds a doctoral degree in law, was initially responsible for the Group’s international business. In 2007 he took on additional duties as head of Group Sales National. He has been in charge of the newly established Group Sales Department since 1 January 2012. “In his roughly 17 years on the ARAG Board of Management, Dr. Kathan has demonstrated outstanding commitment and made a significant contribution to ARAG’s business success. I wish to thank him sincerely on behalf of the Group Board and the owner family,” emphasizes Dr. Paul-Otto Faßbender, Chairman of the Board and CEO of ARAG SE and majority shareholder of the ARAG Group. “With his strong leadership skills and professional expertise, Dr. Kathan has generated many key impulses for the growth and development of our family enterprise in both our international markets and our home market of Germany. And he has also shaped our German ARAG Sales Department into a powerful, modern unit once again.“

Dr. Matthias Maslaton will assume Dr. Johannes Kathan’s duties as head of the newly created Group Sales, Products and Innovation Department effective 1 May 2017. The jurist joined ARAG in 2003. After holding Board level positions at ARAG Allgemeine Versicherungs-AG and Interlloyd Versicherungs-AG, he joined the Group Board of Management of ARAG SE as head of the Products and Innovation Department on 1 January 2012.
