ARAG continues to expand in the UK
The British subsidiary of the ARAG Group acquires the family and commercial legal expenses portfolio from Capita Assistance, a division of Capita Insurance Services of London. Founded in 1979, then Hambro Legal Expenses, it was one of the first firms to offer legal insurance products and telephone advisory services in Great Britain.
“We feel truly fortunate to have acquired this portfolio thereby significantly strengthening our position in the British legal insurance market”, notes Dr. Johannes Kathan, a member of the ARAG Board of Management.
“The acquisition is consistent with the growth policy we have pursued for the past two years. We plan to build upon the firm’s existing business relationships with brokers and other insurers and offer an even wider range of insurance products,” explains Tony Buss, Managing Director of ARAG plc.
Based in Bristol, ARAG plc. acts as an intermediary. It covers the entire value chain – from product development to sales, marketing and underwriting. Policies are underwritten by Brit Insurance, a renowned British insurer. ARAG plc. promotes a range of products including motor, commercial and family legal insurance as well as After-the-Event insurance. The company’s target group is comprised of insurers, brokers, solicitors, consultants and banks for whom ARAG plc. develops customized legal insurance products.
