ARAG wins JUVE AWARD
The JUVE Verlag, publishers of legal information, recently honored the best law firms and in-house teams of the year for the tenth year in succession. The ARAG insurance group received the JUVE AWARD at a gala ceremony at the Alte Oper in Frankfurt on 23 October 2013. The Legal Department of the Düsseldorf family enterprise was named "In-house team of the year for regulated industries."
In the words of the JUVE jury: “That has never been witnessed before in a regulated industry. The jurists of the ARAG Group are courageously pursuing new paths, as they venture to achieve a stellar merger. A project team is managing the complex process of restructuring the Group.”
The family-managed insurance group transformed its operational group holding company from a joint-stock company under German law to a Societas Europaea (SE). In the next step, six independent ARAG subsidiaries were merged as branch organizations in a stellar constellation with ARAG SE in Düsseldorf.
“The Legal Department in Düsseldorf headed by Georg Kordges has played a central role in the process since the outset. The jurists worked for nearly two years on the restructuring plan: a huge project that can only be accomplished with an outstanding team of experts …,” as the jury emphasized in its summation. Also nominated in the Regulated Industries category were the teams from DB Energie, Enercon, Department for EU Processes in the Federal Republic of Germany and the ZDF (Second German Television Broadcasting Corporation).
