ARAG trims its portfolio with the sale of INTERIURA International AG

The ARAG Group has decided to sell INTERIURA International AG, its subsidiary specialising in international claims settlement and services, to the Dutch firm CED International B.V. With 14 companies in 13 countries and cooperation agreements with partners in a further 28 countries, Düsseldorf-based INTERIURA, founded in 1989, settles more than 40,000 claims per annum for some 350 insurers in Germany and abroad. The firm employs over 100 people.

“The ARAG Group is focusing on traditional insurance services as its core business field,” explains Dr. Johannes Kathan, a member of the ARAG Board of Management. “We are pleased to have found in CED a buyer who will continue to develop INTERIURA’s long-standing expertise along strategic lines in the future,” he adds.

The Dutch CED has served its home market as an insurance service provider specialising in the preparation of valuations and appraisals in motor vehicle, household property, building liability and personal injury claims. The company has recently expanded its operations into Belgium, Luxembourg and France. In keeping with this strategy, the acquisition of INTERIURA will give CED, a specialist in national and international claims management, access to another ten international markets. “Both sides will benefit from this merger, and I see great growth potential for the entire INTERIURA network. CED International and INTERIURA already have a combined revenue volume of nearly 23 million Euro,” notes Thomas Bungard, a member of the Executive Board of INTERIURA International AG. Transfer of ownership will take effect retroactively to 1 January 2010. The parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price.
