ARAG’s first attempt to gain a foothold in the Portuguese market through a joint venture with “Imperio” brought little success. Three years later, ARAG launched a second attempt and founded ARAG S.A. - Sucursal em Portugal as a division of ARAG Spain, and thus gained entry into the market. ARAG Portugal has since become an important player in the legal insurance market in that country.

The growth and development of ARAG S.A. - Sucursal em Portugal were influenced above all by changes in Portuguese society. Growing awareness of the importance of legal insurance in the Portuguese population played an important role in ARAG’s development in Portugal.

With headquarters in Lisbon, ARAG Portugal works in collaboration with some 50 legal insurance specialists who advise more than half a million customers. In the course of its nine years of existence, ARAG S.A. - Sucursal em Portugal has become an important part of the Portuguese legal insurance market. Today, its portfolio consists of legal insurance products for individuals and corporate entities.
