In 1963, ARAG founded “SIRA Srl,” an insurance agency which was later reincorporated as a joint-stock company under the name “ARAG Assicurazioni Automobilistici e Generali S.p.A.” The firm was later granted a permit to operate as an insurer. Corporate headquarters were moved to Verona in 1965 – in response to the high percentage of German citizens in that area and the rising demand for legal insurance in the fields of tourism and business.

ARAG’s subsidiary in Italy has achieved strong growth since 1990 and is now one of the largest international companies in the Group. The subsidiary of ARAG in Italy collabortes with a large number of major insurers in the Italien market. In both cooperations and direct sales, the company relies above all on individual, tailor-made insurance solutions and innovative products as its answer to rising demand in Italy.

The direct sales network established b ARAG Italy currently consists of 534 agencies and 740 insurance brokers. The company is also actively engaged in providing insurance coverage for banks and now cooperates with 19 different financial institutions.
