Prologue
Today, financial service companies such as insurers can only perform the tasks relating to their service efficiently and economically with the aid of information technology. IT is necessary for rapidly and economically administering insurance policies. The improved protection of the community of policyholders against abuse achieved through the use of information technology is much superior to the corresponding manual procedures, and thus ultimately benefits all policyholders in the calculation of premiums.

undertake with this statement to carefully observe the legal requirements with respect to data protection and data security when you visit their websites. In particular, we pledge to proactively apply the German Data Protection Act and the German Teleservices Data Protection Act, which is definitive for these Web pages. Without exception, when you transmit information, particularly personal information, to the ARAG insurance companies, we utilize encryption to ensure that these data are protected against access by any third parties via the Internet or otherwise pursuant to Sec. 13 Teleservices Data Protection Act.

Data Collection
When you visit our websites, our computers record this purely statistically so that we can obtain visitor figures. This is performed entirely anonymously. No association with personal data is performed. We evaluate:
The number of visitors per website visited
Date and time of visits
Where appropriate, the type of system software (browsers, operating system) and the network connection via which you access our website so that we can optimize our computers.
In particular, we do not analyze your IP address except for connection purposes. We do not generate individual-related visitor profiles, nor do we disclose data enabling the generation of such visitor profiles to any third party.

We use the personal data that you disclose to us via a website (e.g. your name and address or email address) solely to correspond with you or for the purposes for which you provided us the data, and for no other purpose. We would also like to use your address data in order to inform you from time to time about our products and services and the latest changes to them. However, we obtain your consent to this in advance. As provided for in the German Data Protection Act, you can refuse this ARAG advertising at any time. To do this, send us a brief message. We expressly assure you that we do not disclose your personal data to any third parties unless required to by compulsory legal requirements, or you yourself authorize us to disclose your data.
Cookies
The technology of cookies
Cookies are small files containing text data that a webserver sends to the browser of an internet user currently visiting that website. The data are stored on the internet user’s hard drive.
How ARAG uses them
When an ARAG webserver places a cookie on your hard drive, the information it contains enables identification of a specific browser when it accesses a website again. ARAG does not link this with any other data that might identify you, which you may have entered e.g. in the course of using our internet offering. Thus, cookies used by ARAG contain no personal data!

ARAG currently uses cookies technology only in anonymized form for marketing and optimization purposes. In other words, the set cookies track the preferences of visitors to our website so that we can derive insights for improving our service going forward.
Browser settings
Modern internet browsers let you individually define how cookies are handled, e.g. in the menu option “Security/Data Protection Statement” (browser-dependent). There, you can define e.g. whether you want to receive a warning when your browser is offered a cookie. It is also possible to generally restrict or refuse the acceptance and saving of cookies. Cookies set by ARAG are valid for 30 days. After 30 days, the cookies are automatically deleted. Independently of this, you can manually delete the cookies at any time.

Under the German Data Protection Act, our employees are obligated to preserve data secrecy.
To the extent required by law, we collect, process and use your data only when you have declared your consent to this.
In websites on which we collect personal data, you can obtain information as to what purpose, exactly what extent, how and where the data are collected, stored, processed and used at any time, and thus before entering them as well, through a simple link.
We secure your visits to our websites using the current technical state of the art.
In particular, personal data and other data transmitted from you to us or, where applicable, in the other direction, are without exception encrypted adequately to ensure that unauthorized persons cannot obtain knowledge of them.
