Commitment

As Europe’s largest sports insurer, ARAG is strongly committed to research in the field of sports accidents. We place particular emphasis on the prevention of such accidents, as prevention benefits everyone – from children to top-flight athletes. We have been collecting and analyzing data on sports accidents in cooperation with the Ruhr University Bochum since 1987. Today, we maintain the largest sports accident database in Europe. Over 160,000 accident records offer insights into the most common sports hazards. In collaboration with others, we make this knowledge available to sports clubs free of charge in the form of leaflets. In this way, we contribute to the prevention of severe and potentially disabling injuries.

ARAG also supports “momentum,” the German Research Center for Competitive Sports in Cologne. On the basis of their extensive research, experts at “momentum” develop guidelines for safe, clean and healthy competitive sports. The insights gained in the process are also applied to sports at the grass-roots level.

ARAG also promotes sports outside the field of accident research. Among other things, our commitment includes serving as the main sponsor of the FIS Cross-Country Skiing World Cup in Düsseldorf, the Borussia Düsseldorf table-tennis team (the record-holding German champion) and the German Table Tennis Federation (DTTB).

ARAG has adopted a sponsorship concept in which we serve as a partner to society.
